I have made some stunning discoveries while researching my family.
Taylor Swift as it turns out is my 7th cousin 3 times removed. My 8 times great grandmother's name was Alice Swift. Her brother, Capt. Nathanial Swift, was Taylor Swift's 5x great grandfather. I have known about Alice Swift since 2011, but never in a million years would I have guessed it was the same Swift's. Then one night in June 2014, I was reading an excerpt out of a book that another cousin had emailed me and realized that there was a connection to Pennsylvania (Taylor's home state). Within an hour after that I had located several different pieces of information including 2 or 3 other family trees that showed an Alice Swift as the sister of Capt. Nathanial Swift, whom I located following Taylor's line back to the right time frame. I did some further digging and to my surprise my Alice was indeed the sister to Capt. Nathanial.
It was both exciting and overwhelming to say the least.
